Method 1 – Rename Edge’s SystemApps Folder
Use this method to disable Edge. To do it:
1.First login as an administrator.
2.Press Windows + E keys to open the Windows File Explorer.
3.Navigate to the following location:
C\:Windows\SystemApps, where C: is the system drive.
4.Locate the Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe folder.
5.Right-click on it.
6.Select the Rename option from the pop-up menu and change it to ” Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwedisable “.
7.Renaming anything is fine, but this will make it easier to rename it back when you want to enable it again.
8.Confirm the pop-up prompt.
9.Now, Edge will get disabled.
Method 2 – Use PowerShell To Uninstall Edge:
This method will uninstall Edge from the system. But, keep in mind that any updates to the Windows 10 can restrict PowerShell to uninstall Edge. If this doesn’t work, then Microsoft has already done it. Follow the below steps to uninstall Edge browser from Windows 10:
1.Press the Windows + X keys.
2.Then, click on the Windows PowerShell (Admin) option from the pop-up menu to open PowerShell with administrator privileges.
3.Type Get-AppxPackage | Select Name, PackageFullName in PowerShell.
4.Press Enter.
5.This command will show all the Microsoft Package details on your screen.
6.Copy the Edge package name.
7.Now, type Get-AppxPackage | Remove-AppxPackage and enter the actual package name of Edge that you copied in place and press Enter.
8.After this command, PowerShell will uninstall the Edge.
