Method 1 – Check If The Volume And Audio Device Options1:

If the speakers are not working on the laptop, the first thing you will do is check if the volume is muted or not. If it is not muted, then check the Audio device should be enabled. To check if the audio device is disabled:

1.Type Manage Audio Devices in the Windows search bar.
2.Select the top option.
3.In the Playback tab check if the audio device is disabled.
4.If the audio device is disabled, then right-click on it.
5.Select the Enable option from the pop-up menu.
6.Click on Apply and OK to save the changes

7.If no devices are shown in the Playback tab, then the devices may be hidden.
8.Right-click on the empty device list.
9.Select the Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices options from the pop-up menu.
10.Now, the devices should show up on your screen.

Method 2 – Run Audio Troubleshooter:

Try to run the inbuilt Windows audio troubleshooter. It will surely detect the problem and fix it automatically if it is related to Windows. To do so:

1.Type Troubleshoot Settings in the Windows search bar.
2.Open the appropriate option.
3.Click on the Playing Audio option in the Get up and running section.
4.Select the Run the troubleshooter option.

5.Now, select the audio device of your laptop.
6.Click on the Next option.
7.Follow the instructions given on your screen to finish the troubleshooting.

Method 3 – Disable And Enable Audio Driver:

Disabling and enabling the audio driver in the Device Manager can fix the sound not working on the laptop. To disable and enable the audio driver in Device Manager:

1.Press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard to open the Run utility.
2.Type devmgmt.msc
3.Press the Enter key to open the Device Manager.
4.Expand the Sound, video, and game controllers option.
5.Right-click on the audio driver.
6.Select the Disable device option.
7.Then click on the Yes option on the pop-up dialogue.

8.Now, restart your laptop.
9.A window should pop-up on your screen regarding the sound problem.
10.Follow the instructions to resolve this issue.
11.Follow the above steps again to enable the audio driver again, if no window pops up after restarting the laptop.

Method 4 – Update The Audio Driver:

Outdated audio drivers can also cause this issue. To update the audio driver:

1.Open the Device Manager again.
2.Right-click on the audio driver (follow Solution 3).
3.Select the Update driver option from the pop-up menu.
4.Click on the Search automatically for the updated driver software option.

5.Follow the instructions given to complete the update.
6.Then restart the laptop.

Method 5 – Check The Audio Sensor Port:

If you did not hear any sound after plugging in the headphones, then the audio sensor port can be stuck. In this scenario, the laptop will only output the audio through the headphone port even if the headphone is disconnected. To fix this:

1.Plugin the audio hack of your headphone and quickly unplug it.
2.Insert an ear cotton bud in the audio port.
3.Move it around gently.
4.Take caution so that the port doesn’t break.
5.Check if the laptop speakers start working again.

Method 6 – Replace The Audio Board:
